JOB DESCRIPTIONPersonal AssistantsA LITTLE ABOUT MYSELFI am a 76 year old woman in the area of Barry who used to work in the NHS for many years. I have had Fibromyalgia for a long time and this also causes me a lot of body pain. I have a trapped nerve in the neck causing a lot of pain down my arms with constant sciatic pain in my left hip. I also has Bells Palsy- left facial drop and neuralgic pain; that this affects my mouth and so affects drinking and eating. I also have eye drops daily and requires assistance with.I have sleep apnoea and wear CPAP machine at night and can sometimes have fainting episodes 3-4 times a week. I require assistance to bed and reassurance at these times. This can happen 2-3 times per week but could be a couple of weeks before episodes. I also wear a body brace to keep my back straight and maintain posture.I am immobile and use an electric wheelchair. I can also use 2 sticks to transfer or walk short distances when I am able; however I often lose my grip and not able to walk far. I otherwise require transfers onto her wheelchair.PURPOSE OF JOBI currently have a team of carers to support me at home to remain as independent and safe as possible. We are looking for another PA to join my team.PLACE OF WORKAt my home address in BarryHOURS OF WORKMonday, Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday 3pm-6pmRATE OF PAY£13.80 per hour plus double pay on bank holidays, plus mileage where applicable.TASKS INVOLVEDFood preparationGeneral cleaning around the homePersonal careAdministration tasks like going to the post officeTYPE OF PERSON REQUIREDNeeds to be trustworthy and confidentNeeds to be dedicated and reliableSomeone who would be comfortable and confident to transfer into wheelchair, where necessaryMust be a driver with business class insuranceSomeone who respects my privacy, confidentiality and dignityABOUT THE JOBThough a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence.
