Truro - On-Call Firefighter – Cornwall Council About the Role We are currently recruiting On-Call Firefighters at Truro Community Fire Station. This rewarding role offers the flexibility of part‑time hours while serving the community. Job Overview On-Call Firefighters maintain everyday lives and jobs until they are summoned. Once called, they become professional Firefighters, ready to respond to a range of operational incidents. Their duties include fire and road safety prevention, education, safeguarding, and emergency response. Contracted Weekly Average Hours 45 hours: 31–60 75 hours: 61–90 105 hours: 91–119 120+ hours: 120 Additional Resources More information about the role, the NFCC information pack, and the role profile are available to applicants. You Must / What You’ll Need to Succeed Be available to respond to or live/work no more than five minutes from your nearest station Be at least 18 years old at the start of employment (you can apply earlier); no maximum age limit Have no unspent criminal convictions at the time you start employment (unspent convictions at the time of application can be discussed at first contact) Have the right to work in the UK Be able to drive at the start of employment (you can apply before you have a licence) Have good eyesight meeting visual standards Have a good level of strength and fitness – you must be able to reach level 8.8 on the bleep test Have a good grasp of Maths and English (you may need to undertake NFCC written tests; formal qualifications are not required) This position will be subject to a standard criminal record disclosure check.
