Principal Consultant – Power & Renewables Join Wood Mackenzie as a Principal Consultant in the Power & Renewables sector. Wood Mackenzie is a global data, analytics and consulting firm that helps customers navigate the energy transition. Role Purpose The Principal Consultant helps grow the Power and Renewables Consulting practice within EMEA, leading project execution, fostering client relationships and steering the practice’s growth. Main Responsibilities Project Management Plan and prioritise the project, aligning stakeholders on deliverables. Secure and manage resources, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget completion. Track progress, keep clients updated, and gather feedback. Close projects internally, identifying follow‑up and re‑sale opportunities. Business Development Support the regional sector head in EMEA business development. Own a select client subset, driving relationship growth and new advisory opportunities. Collaborate with the global team on offerings and best practices. Lead thought‑leadership activities and industry representation. Analysis Coach teams on consulting projects, modelling, and analysis tools. Prepare content for deliverables and presentations. Extract and analyse data from internal and external sources. Maintain high analytical quality and defend work to clients. Communication Provide timely client communication and updates. Deliver clear written and verbal communication internally and externally. Foster positive relationships with cross‑functional colleagues. Teamwork Collaborate across consulting, research and sales teams. Adopt a flexible, open approach to work. Support practice development by sharing insights with colleagues. Qualifications Minimum 5–8 years of experience in the power & renewables industry or related consulting environments. Project management experience with a history of leading complex projects. Deep knowledge of power market dynamics, technologies (wind, solar, BESS, gas), and business models across EMEA. Strong financial and power market modelling skills. Proven track record in a team environment and advisory roles. Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills; strong Excel and PowerPoint abilities. Commercial acumen in power and renewables transactions highly desirable. Strong time‑management and organisational skills.
