Associate Director - Strategy & Feasibility – Rail, Light Rail, Freight, Local Authorities Posted: 1 day ago. Be among the first 25 applicants. At WSP, you will join the Client Engineering & Advisory Services group within the UK Rail team. We provide systemic, integrated rail solutions that are user‑focused, operationally driven, and commercially sound. The Strategy & Feasibility team develops early‑stage railway requirements into fundable projects, working with public and private sector clients on new stations, freight facilities, and new rail services. Responsibilities Provide strategic rail advice to external and internal clients. Coordinate multi‑disciplinary projects and often act as central coordinating lead. Develop rail‑focused service offerings in light rail, freight, or local authorities. Plan, manage, and deliver tasks that contribute to large projects; may also lead project delivery and bidding for new work. Engage with clients and build networks both externally and internally to solve problems and generate new work. Qualifications Extensive experience in light rail, freight, or local authority transport; understanding of related legislation and funding processes. Knowledge across rail areas: operational planning, strategic planning, business case development, engineering feasibility. Ability to think strategically, see the big picture while attending to details. Career‑focused, proactive, collaborative professional style. Consultancy skills: business development and bidding. Organisation and project management skills; stakeholder management; team leadership. Microsoft Office proficiency. Professional qualification or working towards one.
