About the role Mental Health Advisors are responsible for the delivery of mental health support to Univeristy of Plymouth students. Ensuring that students and staff have access to timely support and advice on matters pertaining to student mental health and risk management. Amongst other things, you will undertake assessments and act as a representative for University of Plymouth Student Wellbeing Services. You will : Co-ordinate support for students who are vulnerable or in crisis, with colleagues across the institution and with external agencies Contribute toward / deliver proactive workshops for staff and students Co-ordinates and contributes to student support meetings and risk management meetings Due to the nature of the role, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate working from home. There are 2 positions available as follows Position 1 : This is a part-time position working 29.6 hours per week on a permanent basis. Position 2 : This is a part-time position working 29.6 hours per week on a fixed-term basis until July 2026 due to funding, the actual end date is to be confirmed. What we’re looking for You will : Hold a relevant professional qualification such as Registered Mental Health Nurse / Social Worker / Occupational Therapist / and have substantial experience of providing mental health advice and assessment to vulnerable adults. Hold Registration and professional standing with an appropriate professional body relevant to the area of mental health Have significant experience of providing mental health support services within a demanding environment such as HE / FE, NHS, Social Work or voluntary sector to clients with moderate to severe mental health difficulties Have experience of crisis management and coping with stressful and sometimes life threatening situations Have knowledge and competence in assessing psychological distress and risk with clients, including suicidal behaviour For more information about the job and the person specification, please refer to the job description.
