Our client is a UK-based energy infrastructure and services business that supports the country’s transition toward smarter, more efficient energy systems. The group provides end-to-end solutions across asset management, operational delivery, and data-driven services, partnering with major utilities and energy providers nationwide. The Role As a Data Product Owner, you will play a key role in driving the evolution of asset tracking and billing systems across the business. You will define and refine product requirements, ensure data accuracy at a detailed level, and work closely with operational, commercial, finance, and technology teams to deliver solutions that meet complex business needs. This is a high-visibility role that combines hands‑on data analysis with product leadership. You will oversee the product roadmap, support transformation initiatives, and ensure that system changes are thoroughly tested, compliant, and aligned with strategic objectives. The role requires strong analytical capability, the ability to work with large and complex datasets, and the confidence to influence stakeholders and guide decision‑making across the organisation. Key Responsibilities Define and own the product vision in alignment with business goals and transformation initiatives. Develop long‑term product roadmaps reflecting market trends and emerging technologies. Represent business users, ensuring their needs and benefits are central to product decisions. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. Drive business transformation by analysing processes and identifying opportunities for improvement. Lead Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand‑ups, retrospectives) and manage a detailed product backlog. Ensure compliance with quality, data protection, and regulatory standards. Oversee rollout plans, including user training and implementation support. Monitor product performance, gather feedback, and drive continuous improvement. Conduct market and competitor analysis to refine product strategies. Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success, analysing data and user feedback to assess impact, identify improvements, and drive continuous optimisation. Take responsibility for data accuracy and testing, ensuring all changes are validated, accurate, and do not negatively affect key business metrics. Keep stakeholders informed about product progress, challenges, and upcoming features, ensuring transparency, alignment, and sustained buy‑in across the organisation. Key Requirements Person Specification Qualifications: Degree or professional qualification in business analysis (Desirable). Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio for analytics (Essential) Knowledge: Knowledge of the UK energy industry (Desirable). Knowledge: Knowledge of PowerApps (Desirable). Solid experience in change‑related roles on large or complex projects and programmes. Stakeholder analysis and management. Requirements investigation and analysis techniques. Business Process Modelling. Data analysis. Experience with database interrogation tools. Knowledge of Agile methodologies. Preparing and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Experience working within the energy industry. Awareness of data security and confidentiality issues. Experience using Microsoft DevOps. Proven experience as a Data Product Owner or Product Manager working with large‑scale datasets or platforms. Ability to deliver business solutions across programmes and projects, balancing time, cost, and quality. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills, with a track record of applying business analysis techniques to enable change. Ability to develop robust documentation, including business cases, cost/benefit analysis, options papers, and requirements specifications. Ability to operate effectively within varied project methodologies. Strong leadership and stakeholder‑influencing skills, including up to Director level. Advanced SQL Management Studio analytical skills, including working with very large datasets (millions of records). Strong judgement and the ability to use initiative. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to work with data underpinning business processes while maintaining data integrity. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio). Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Flexibility to support the business outside of core responsibilities. Ability to organise and prioritise workload under pressure. High attention to detail and accuracy.
