We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Programme Manager to join our leadership team to create a more resilient, climate‑friendly and healthy city. We deliver a range of projects, events and skills training to meet the needs of local people – working towards a future where everyone can live happier, healthier lives, whilst treading more lightly on the planet. Current projects include Dundee West End Community Fridge, The Wardrobe, The Gleaning Project, a Youth Project and a busy schedule of workshop and events. Our team and volunteer community have ambitious plans for future projects – to allow for a more joined‑up approach to climate and social action across the city and to ensure we are as financially sustainable, inclusive/accessible and agile as possible. Role Overview The Programme Manager will be a very hands‑on, in‑person role. The successful candidate will support the Managing Director by being responsible for the effective day‑to‑day management of all Transition Dundee projects including overseeing project budgets, policies and procedures, building management, people management, IT systems and applications, continuity across the projects, and ensuring volunteer teams are supported, connected and celebrated. This role involves direct line‑management responsibilities, ensuring compliance with operational standards, and representing the organisation externally when required. Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of day‑to‑day programme management, including stepping in to support or cover for Project Coordinators where necessary, general project logistics, project budget and deliverable monitoring/reporting, people management, and supporting the teams IT requirements. Development and delivery of any additional future projects or opportunities. Line‑manage the Project Coordinator team (including any future recruitment) who in turn manage large volunteer teams, supporting their wellbeing, performance and professional development. Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Control measures to ensure efficiency and compliance, including robust Health and Safety protocols. Collaborate with the Managing Director to provide strategic leadership and organisational direction. Support the Managing Director with funding applications and other duties as required. Represent the organisation externally, deputising for the Managing Director when necessary. Person Specification – Essential Significant project management experience, with proven abilities in problem solving, managing budgets, data monitoring, report writing and implementing process improvements. Significant leadership experience, with a proven ability to provide guidance, resolve conflict, support career development, build strong working relationships and foster collaborative, motivated teams. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with our community members and supporters, colleagues, senior leadership, and external stakeholders. Strong IT skills; for example, ability to set up computers, troubleshoot basic IT issues and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite or similar. Strong passion for climate, community inclusion and other social justice issues. UK driving licence, to drive our electric van and support project teams, when necessary (own vehicle not required). Person Specification – Desirable Knowledge of the aims and ethos of Transition Dundee. Experience in marketing through both online and offline measures such as ticketing platforms. Knowledge of, or experience, working or volunteering in the third sector. Experience of partnership working with local agencies and non‑profit organisations. Experience using accounting software packages such as Sage or Xero. Experience in fundraising and/or writing funding applications.
