Job overview The UHD Oral Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) team invite candidates to apply for 2 x OMFS Clinical Fellow roles on a 11 month fixed term basis. The successful candidates will work within a highly specialised multidisciplinary team serving the patients of Dorset meeting their emergency, elective and cancer needs. The two successful post holders will have the opportunity to spend 6 months with a focus on Head and Neck cancer and 6 months with a focus on Trauma and Deformity, working closely with our consultants to deliver every aspect of the OMFS service. The team consists of consultants, middle grades, clinical fellows, registrars, dental core trainees, resident doctors, dental nurses, prosthetic colleagues and more. The candidates will work to support inpatients on the specialist Head and Neck ward within Poole Hospital. The role will be fast‑paced, filled with variety and an excellent opportunity for the right, motivated candidate. We welcome applications from candidates who meet the criteria. Main duties of the job To support the delivery of high quality care to OMFS patients in all areas of an acute hospital including but not limited to: inpatients on the specialist Head & Neck ward, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and Treatment Room; emergency attenders, outpatients and ward attenders. To support the delivery of highly specialist surgery with dedicated nursing support with critical care support as needed. To support the delivery of OMFS treatments within the Outpatient Treatment Centre working with consultants, middle grades, dental nurses and a wider team of specialists such as restorative dentistry consultant and dental hygienist. To support patients who are jointly treated between the One Dorset Orthodontic Service and OMFS for Orthognathic surgery. To support and participate in delivering an excellent OMFS outpatient offering. To utilise the facilities including PACs associated oral and facial imaging equipment including X‑ray, ultrasound and highly specialist software in theatres such as Spy‑Phi. Person specification Experience Recent ,wide ranging experience in OMFS(Inpatient and Outpatient) Competence in judgement, diagnostics, prioritisation, documented surgical exposure Preferably 12 months experience in core surgical speciality or equivalent Head and neck fellowships or equivalent Initially management of acutely ill patients Qualifications Eligibility to register or valid/relevant GMC/GDC Registration Basic Medical and or Dental Qualification Post CCT or overseas specialist registration can be considered Completion of foundation training Please note: Staff recruited are expected to be available to work flexibly across all our Trust locations to meet service demands.
