Investigations Constable – Counter Terrorism Policing Rank: ConstableClosing Date: 14th December 2025 23:59 PMLocation: West Midlands Police – modern offices near Birmingham International Airport Secondment or Transferee Opportunity: CTPWM Investigations department leads Terrorist Investigations affecting the West Midlands region, involving planning arrest phases, investigating evidence, reviewing digital material, and post‑arrest case management. The Role: As a Detective Constable within CTPWM, you will work in a dedicated team, reporting to a Detective Sergeant and Senior Investigating Officer. Your responsibilities include gathering intelligence per the National Intelligence Model, collecting evidence of criminal and extremist activity, participating in arrests and interviews, and managing post‑charge casework. Responsibilities Gather and develop intelligence in line with the National Intelligence Model. Gather evidence related to criminal behaviour, extremist, subversive and terrorist activities or offences. Attend operational briefings to maximise two‑way flow of information. Arrest and process suspects for terrorism and/or criminal matters in accordance with current legislation. Develop and build cases in relation to criminal offences. Assist with the criminal justice process, including attending court. Essential Skills and Competencies Willingness to work towards completing the ICIDP qualification. Proven investigative experience including the criminal justice process. Evidence of dealing with exhibits and knowledge of the CPIA process. Effective interviewing and statement‑taking skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Working knowledge of the National Intelligence Model and tasking and coordination processes. Ability to support a national CT Network requirement (may involve national deployment). Will workload shift patterns including early, late and weekend shifts. Desirable Criteria Knowledge and understanding of HOLMES investigations. Knowledge of the role of Exhibits/Disclosure/Investigating Officer within a major investigation environment. Material: You will be required to review audio or visual material that may be distressing on a regular basis. A framework exists to assist with mental health and wellbeing support if needed. Additional Information: This position is offered as a permanent post to West Midlands Police or a 2‑year secondment. To qualify for a secondment, you must confirm in your application that you have received approval from your Chief Officer for secondment to another force. Security Checks: The post requires British nationality, Enhanced Security Check clearance, and the willingness to undergo Developed Vetting. Additional clearance checks will be conducted, and the offer of employment is conditional on obtaining all necessary security clearances. There are restrictions on travel to a small number of countries once in post.
