In this senior role, you will specify the debugger’s core behaviour, design the user interaction model, and deliver a robust toolchain that enables developers to debug and optimise workloads running on Graphcore hardware. You will work closely with our partners, hardware, software, and customer teams to ensure the debugger meets the needs of both internal and external users.The TeamReporting to the Modelling Team Leader, the Staff Engineer is responsible for supporting the delivery of software models of the next generation platforms to allow early software development. They will work in close conjunction with our partners, the hardware and silicon teams on upcoming changes and also with the software teams who will be using the models.Responsibilities and DutiesLead the architecture, design, and implementation of a debugger for Graphcore’s current and next-generation processors.Collaborate with all colleagues within the software, firmware and hardware engineering teamsActively engage in and support Agile ways of working within the teamDebug issues, resolve bugs and generally improve the quality and functionality of the productMentor colleagues within the team, sharing knowledge and providing guidance where appropriateSupport the team leader and technical leader when askedCandidate ProfileExperience developing emulators and simulatorsStrong low-level programming skills in C, C++, or Rust.Strong understanding of processor architecturesPossess excellent written and oral communication skills, good work ethics, high sense of team-work.Proactive, self-driven, and committed to delivering high-quality solutions.Experience of developing IDEs.Experience with compiler toolchains.Knowledge of debugging protocols and standards.BenefitsIn addition to a competitive salary, Graphcore offers flexible working, a generous annual leave policy, private medical insurance and health cash plan, a dental plan, pension (matched up to 5%), life assurance and income protection.
