ANP or Paramedic working in General Practice NHS West Midlands, England, United Kingdom We are looking for an Advanced Nurse/Clinical Practitioner, on a permanent basis, to work 24 hours per week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (8 hours a day). Days are non‑negotiable. You will be based at Clifton Road Surgery, situated within the centre of Rugby. The practice is a large and forward‑looking training facility responsible for approximately 15,000 patients. Main duties of the job We invite applications from suitably qualified Practitioners with skills to clinically assess, diagnose, refer and manage patients with a range of conditions. The ability to work independently and demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision‑making process is required, and the practitioner will take lead responsibility for patient care as part of a team. All appointments are clinically triaged to ensure patients see the right clinician at the right time. All Advanced Nurse/Clinical Practitioner appointments are 10‑minute sessions for a single acute issue. Administration and results time is protected, and a regular two‑weekly mentor time with a dedicated GP is available. The Practice uses EMIS Web and training will be available for the successful candidate if required. The post holder will be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referral and discharge of a diverse range of patients with minor injuries/illnesses, within their level of competence and agreed protocols. Key Responsibilities Make autonomously accountable clinical decisions. Triage patients and provide safe, evidence‑based, cost‑effective, individualised care. Offer holistic services to patients and their families, developing ongoing care plans with emphasis on prevention and self‑care. Promote health and well‑being through health promotion, education, screening and therapeutic communication. Consult patients as an autonomous practitioner using clinical judgement to diagnose, treat, refer or discharge. Provide daytime rota cover for urgent acute medical needs. Make direct referrals to secondary care and social services within local pathways. Provide clinical advice to reception staff when required. Ensure timely, high‑quality clinical care and accurate documentation. Administer medicines as indicated for patient needs. Collaborate with multidisciplinary and multi‑agency teams to meet patient needs. Refer patients directly to appropriate services or agencies in line with practice policy. Work with the practice multidisciplinary team to promote integrated care pathways. Support the practice in achieving quality targets and improving patient services. Help develop and set up new patient services and initiatives. Communication & Working Relationships Communicate with staff at all levels and with patients/carers. Maintain effective relationships with multidisciplinary agencies. Adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct and organisational policies. Maintain confidentiality of patient and staff information. Promote evidence‑based practice through research and quality assurance. Participate in continuing professional development. Records accurate consultation data in line with NMC guidance. Work collaboratively with colleagues internally and externally to the practice. Qualifications Registered with NMC or HCPC. Clinical skills qualifications or equivalent experience. Prescribing qualification. Degree in health care (or equivalent) – desirable. Experience of chronic disease management – desirable. Legal and Registration Requirements Applicants must have current UK professional registration and undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (CRB) check.
