One of my local government clients is seeking an experienced Procurement Officer to support the senior management team within the Childcare Services division. This role will work closely with the Executive Head of Childcare Services to ensure the efficient day-to-day management of procurement activities within three local authority maintained nursery provisions. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality early education and childcare by supporting the development of policies, practices, and operational standards across the centres. The post-holder will also deputise for the Executive Head of Childcare Services and the Executive Head of Children Centre Services when required. Key Responsibilities Support all procurement, sourcing, contract management, and purchasing requirements across the childcare centres. Assist the Executive Head of Childcare Services in the operational and strategic management of the three nursery settings. Deputise for senior leaders during periods of absence, including annual leave or sickness. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote high-quality early education and childcare. Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with council procurement regulations. Maintain accurate records and provide reporting as required. Skills and Experience Required Previous experience in procurement within a public sector, education, childcare, or local authority environment. Strong understanding of procurement regulations and best practice. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently on-site. Confident in supporting and deputising for senior leadership. Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills. Socialservice experience is key.
