FIX Network Operations Manager, EMEA Charles River Development – Assistant Vice President – State Street Corporation – London, United Kingdom. Charles River Development provides an end‑to‑end solution to automate front‑ and middle‑office investment management functions across asset classes on a single platform. Delivered via Software as a Service, it improves data quality and investment‑professional productivity, controls risk and lowers technology costs. The platform serves more than 350 investment firms in over 40 countries, covering institutional asset and fund management, private wealth, alternative investments, insurance, banking and pension markets. Charles River’s Order and Execution Management System (OEMS) is seamlessly integrated with data, FIX connectivity and trade analytics, enabling traders to find liquidity, execute across all asset classes and currencies and ensure compliance. The Network supports electronic trading via the FIX messaging protocol to over 600 global liquidity venues – brokers, multi‑broker venues, crossing networks, broker algorithms, program desks, dark pools, smart order routers, ECNs and ATSs – and guarantees fast, reliable direct access between clients, brokers and trading venues. Through a global, 24/7 FIX Administration team, Charles River ensures continuous testing and certification of brokers and venues, delivering proven reliability and eliminating the need for client‑side network management. Background We require a seasoned manager to lead the EMEA FIX Team (Network Operations) and oversee the implementation and support of electronic trading for multiple asset classes across the Charles River Network. Responsibilities Client Satisfaction: Ensure the service delivers against Service Definitions and client expectations, de‑escalate issues, and provide timely solutions. Ensure availability of the Charles River FIX Network to clients. Onboard clients to the Charles River FIX Network. Maintain Business‑as‑Usual connectivity and service levels. Manage onboarding and support teams. Mentor team and manage staff development and performance. Serve as a subject‑matter expert for CRD Network Service internally and externally. Produce management reporting and metrics. Lead major incident management. Collaborate with clients, internal colleagues and third‑party vendors to troubleshoot, support and resolve issues. Liaison with vendors and third‑party partners. Adhere to ISO policies, standards and procedures defined by Charles River. Actively participate in continuous process improvement of CRN operational support procedures. Collaborate with the Global FIX team to ensure service consistency and effectiveness. Develop strategy and thought leadership around the FIX Service offering and electronic trading. Essential Requirements Team management experience. Service management experience. In‑depth experience of the FIX protocol (4.2, 4.4, 5.0) in implementation and support. Deep experience with front‑office order and trading workflows. Demonstrated experience supporting complex applications in mission‑critical environments. Experience providing telephone‑based technical support. Proven ability to partner with internal departments for effective customer service. Willingness to participate in periodic out‑of‑hours support. Experience supporting application processes on Microsoft Windows servers. Technical aptitude. Strong understanding of WAN and LAN. Experience investigating errors in real‑time application logs. Experience with critical production system monitoring, scheduling and automation in an enterprise environment. Technical support experience for distributed, multi‑tier, database‑centric architectures – e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, with database query ability. Ability to communicate complex technical and functional problems to non‑technical audiences (e.g., explaining FIX workflows to portfolio managers and traders). Desirable Requirements Familiarity with buy‑side portfolio management systems or exposure to sell‑side or vendor OMS/EMS platforms. Experience working in a distributed team structure. Experience with XML‑based application component configuration. Understanding of an ITIL incident, problem and request environment. Experience working closely with client services and sales structures. Familiarity with ServiceNow (SNOW) support workflows. Familiarity with Salesforce CRM. Qualifications Degree level education or equivalent tertiary technical qualification. 10+ years of working experience following tertiary education/graduation. Strong customer service and technical troubleshooting skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interest in institutional financial services. Willingness to learn about and support a variety of applications and interfaces in the Charles River Development suite.
