Be among the first 25 applicants.Department: Academic/Bath Spa University (BSU), University of Suffolk (UoS), Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), Oxford Brooks University (OBU) and/or Pearson partnershipsLocation: Leeds (On‑Site)Salary: £51,000Type of Contract: Full‑Time, Permanent (40 hours per week)Our Vision: Changing lives through education.Role Overview: We are seeking full‑time Study Skills Lecturers who will work closely with subject lecturers to develop and teach study skills within the curriculum across a range of higher education programmes from foundation to masters. This includes improving English language and numeracy, organisational and presentation skills, digital literacy, basic IT skills, reading, writing, and higher‑order research skills. Due to our delivery model, flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and weekends is required. Please note this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.ResponsibilitiesDesign and document bespoke courses, digital resources, workshop plans, and individual schemes of work to develop study skills in the curricula.Deliver and evaluate teaching, identifying areas for improvement to enhance the quality of teaching, learning, and overall student experience in line with GBS’s Learning and Teaching strategy.Provide feedback on individual and class progress in academic writing and other relevant study skills.Offer tutorial consultations with students, give constructive comments tailored to each student’s needs, explain how work fails to meet assessment criteria and suggest ways to improve.Record details from appointments for statistical, evaluation and quality purposes, and refer students to other services as appropriate.Engage with the VLE and research resources to facilitate students’ learning through online resources and activities.Contribute to GBS quality assurance systems and processes.About YouHold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).Have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area.Have a successful track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes.Have proven experience of providing individual and group study skills support in response to identified learning needs.Be willing to lead a specific area of literacy development (e.g., reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills) and support peer‑assisted learning.Demonstrate a high level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills.DesirableExpertise in digital educational resources development, course design and curriculum development.DELTA qualification.A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).What We Offer25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holidays.1-day extra leave per year of service, up to a maximum of 5 days.Workplace pension scheme.Tuition reimbursement for career development courses.Flexible benefits: Cycle to Work, Workplace Nursery, Tech scheme and much more.Perks@Work discounts platform, wellbeing centre and much more.Reward and recognition programme.£500 award employee referral scheme.Discretionary annual performance bonus.“GBS has greatly supported my professional development by offering me a chance to teach diverse, non‑traditional students and by sponsoring my FHEA application, which has been invaluable in consolidating my teaching practices.”— John Traichaisit, Consultant LecturerGBS is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and providing a workplace free from discrimination or harassment.
