Case Manager (fixed term contract – 7 months)

Key Facts:

  • This is a full time, fixed term contract – 7 months.
  • Starting salary of £39,380 per annum (PAYE), pro rated.
  • The post-holder must be able to commit to working a minimum of 4 times per month in the GOsC office in London (SE1).

NB: candidates must be immediately available, or on a very short notice period.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to investigate and manage fitness to practise concerns and protection of title cases from initial receipt of a case to disposal following a final hearing (or case closure/prosecution for protection of title concerns), while adhering to KPIs. You will be required to actively manage and progress investigations, draft witness statements and prepare for hearings.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in upholding professional standards and public protection. You will work closely with a team of seven professionals, reporting directly to the Head of Fitness to Practise.

Key duties of the role include:

  • Investigate and manage fitness to practise concerns from receipt to resolution, ensuring compliance with policies and KPIs.
  • Prepare case documentation, gather evidence, conduct risk assessments, and make sound decisions.
  • Handle high-risk cases, escalate serious concerns, and support Interim Suspension Order applications.
  • Instruct external lawyers, prepare cases for hearings, and train participants on Caselines.
  • Act as the primary contact for regulatory queries, liaising with stakeholders and managing correspondence.

The ideal candidate

To thrive in this role, you will be empathic, demonstrating a high level of integrity including when dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.

The Successful Candidate will have proven ability to:

  • Effectively manage a caseload.
  • Collate, organise and present information/documents in bundles and other reports in an organised manner which is easy to understand and fit for use by Fitness to Practise Committees or equivalent.
  • Prioritise work and progress caseload to standards set out in KPIs.
  • Prepare cases for fitness to practise committees.
  • Investigate section 32 cases, Protection of Title concerns, and where necessary, prepare cases for prosecution.
  • Plan and investigate complex concerns with the ability to adapt a multi-agency approach.
  • Produce comprehensive reports and witness statements.
  • Interview witnesses, support witnesses as well as instructing Counsel during substantive hearings.

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, tailored to purpose and target audience.
  • Proven ability to prioritise work and progress caseload to standards set out in KPIs.
  • Good IT skills required for producing bundles and using/training case parties to use online platforms such as Caselines and GoToMeeting.
  • Proven high attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to closely liaise with management when progressing cases, including providing weekly updates at case reviews and as and when required.
