We represent Viasat in international regulatory committees and in frequency coordination with other satellite operators. We work closely with other parts of Viasat, such as Legal, Business Development, Operations and other parts of Engineering.The day-to-dayThe successful candidate is expected to contribute in several of the following areas:Represent Viasat in regulatory committees and working groups on frequency allocation and spectrum sharing matters, for example the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and regional organizationsParticipate in national preparations for World Radiocommunication Conferences (WRCs) and ITU-R Working PartiesRepresent Viasat in other international organizations dealing with spectrum matters, such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)Represent Viasat in standardization bodies, such as 3GPP and ETSIRepresent Viasat in satellite industry trade associations, e.g. GSOADevelop positions, strategies and input contributions for meetingsProvide technical support on market access and business development activitiesAdvise Viasat’s market development, commercial and engineering teams, as well as senior management, on regulatory opportunities and risksPlan and carry out ITU frequency coordination of Viasat networks in various frequency bands, including L-band, S-band, C-band, Ka-band and Q/V-bandPrepare strategy for frequency coordination and orbital slot acquisitionPrepare ITU filings for Viasat networks and ensuring that all ITU coordination requirements are metEstablish and maintain productive relationships with government officials and other stakeholdersWork closely with other teams within the company (business, technical, legal, accounting, etc.) to obtain necessary factual inputs and facilitate appropriate internal review of planned regulatory submissionsWhat You\'ll NeedBachelor\'s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Science, Maths or another related technical field and 5+ years of professional relevant experienceKnowledge of satellite communications systems (link budgets, general radio theory and basic orbital mechanics), national and international spectrum regulations, policies and spectrum regulatory, registration and coordination processesKnowledge of non-satellite wireless products, services and technologiesExperience of working in international regulatory and standardization fora, such as ITUUnderstanding of policy and regulatory issues in the satellite sector, especially with regard to licensing and market accessKnowledge of broadband communications, and radiofrequency spectrum technologyProgramming and interference analysis skillsWhat Will Help You On The JobWillingness to provide regular and timely reports and updatesWillingness and ability to operate in a team environmentAbility to communicate fully, clearly, and effectively, both orally and in writing, with leadership and teammatesExcellent administrative and organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy, together with the ability to manage simultaneous projectsAbility to take initiative and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced corporate environmentAbility to consistently meet deadlinesEEO StatementViasat is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, seeking to create a welcoming and diverse environment.
