Job Title Lifting Coordinator at Balfour Beatty plc – Sizewell C project Location Ipswich, England, United Kingdom About The Role Join our Ground Engineering team as a Lifting Coordinator and help deliver safe, timely and quality lifting operations for the Sizewell C project. Role Purpose As the appointed person to review, approve and coordinate all crane rigging and lifting work, you will support subcontractor supervisors with the technical direction needed to complete their scopes safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Support contractual lifting management requirements. Ensure all operations abide by laws, guidelines and ISO requirements. Ensure compliance with LOLER, PUWER and other regulations. Conduct risk assessments and maintain risk registers. Manage inspections, certifications and maintenance schedules of lifting equipment. Coordinate with site teams, crane operators, lift supervisors and subcontractors to ensure safe lifting practices. Prepare lift plans, RAMS and method statements in consultation with health and safety teams. Determine scope and create detailed work packs for lifting operations. Lead the coordination of all lifting activities on site and act as principal contractor for lift coordination. Monitor crane scheduling, service delivery and workflow to meet deadlines. Track project activities and maintain daily logs, reports and timesheets. Participate in client meetings and pre‑lift briefings to confirm project requirements. Serve as key contact for the client to ensure objectives are met cost‑effectively. Attend daily and weekly coordination meetings. Maintain project documentation and files in line with company procedures. Qualifications Demonstrated leadership in health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) with active encouragement of team compliance. Experience planning and controlling lifting operations across a range of equipment: tower cranes, mobile/critter cranes, MEWPS, excavator lifts, lorry loaders, compact cranes, telehandlers, manual mechanical lifting, slinging and rigging. Solid knowledge of ISO, LOLER, PUWER and other regulatory frameworks. Strong risk assessment and mitigation skills. Effective communication with subcontractors, site management and client representatives. Ability to produce accurate lift plans and method statements.
