Job Overview Band 7 Behaviour Analyst – Neurodevelopmental Team (Fixed Term: 22.5 hours/week) The post holder will provide a specialist service within CAMHS to young people with neurodevelopmental needs and their families. This is a community‑based post located within the Neurodevelopmental Pathway in Harrow CAMHS. The role offers flexible, evidence‑based episodes of care, assessments and treatments within a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework aimed at enhancing quality of life and reducing challenging behaviour. The post holder will contribute to a positive working environment within the multi‑disciplinary team, delivering assessments, interventions and training to other professionals and agencies as relevant. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive specialist assessments, including risk assessment, using the PBS framework. Use a range of assessment techniques – observations, standard measures, questionnaires, direct work and interviews – to collate information for functional analysis assessments. Formulate and implement positive behaviour plans/interventions in partnership with other agencies. Communicate assessment outcomes, PBS formulations and support plans in a sensitive manner. Coordinate and run psycho‑educational and therapeutic groups using the PBS framework, with support from the assistant psychologist or team lead. Evaluate the implementation and impact of interventions. Write confidential behavioural support plans, reports for case conferences and educational materials. Be available to carry out urgent assessments across school, clinic, home and community settings. Person Specification Education, Training or Qualifications Registration as a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) or a Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or equivalent) with HCPC registration, or a Bachelor/Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Speech & Language Therapy with HCPC registration and RCSLT membership, or Art Therapies with HCPC registration, and training in Positive Behaviour Support or Applied Behavioural Analysis. Experience Previous experience working in CAMHS or in Adult Services for Autism/Learning Disability with clear evidence of transferable skills. Experience of group work. Experience working with a wide range of learning disabilities and mental health problems. Experience working in a culturally diverse inner‑city area. Experience in care planning. Desirable Experience Specific experience in LD and ASD assessment and treatment protocols. Experience in assessment and interventions using the PBS framework or Applied Behavioural Analysis. Training in diagnostic assessments (e.g., ADOS‑2 and/or 3DI). Experience with specialist assessments and treatments for LD/ASD and behaviours that challenge. Experience delivering interventions in patients’ homes. Skills and Abilities Well‑developed clinical skills and knowledge in CAMHS. Specialist clinical skills for assessment and treatment of mental health in Learning Disabilities and ASD. Skilled in emergency and crisis assessments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Teaching skills in clinical and educational settings. Ability to manage own time and caseload. Desirable Skills Specific training in LD and ASD assessment and treatment protocols. Knowledge In‑depth knowledge of LD and ASD and related assessment/intervention issues. Awareness of current national guidelines and policies in CAMHS. Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice with children, young people and families.
