St Catharine’s College seeks to appoint a talented Health and Safety Adviser to join our College Operations Team. This exciting role will be key in keeping our whole community safe and compliant by supporting and advising our staff, students and Fellows in Health and Safety matters. The ideal candidate will: Work closely and proactively with the Operations Director and with Heads of Departments to evolve, monitor and maintain a system that promotes a culture of safe working practices across the College community of students, staff and Fellows. Aim to become a model of best practice in the field of health and safety in the College environment, supporting and caring for the whole community on health and safety matters. Act as the College’s Competent Person for health and safety as defined by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and ensure the College complies with current health and safety legislation and approved codes of practice and guidance. Advise, support and work with the Head Porter to ensure College meets its fire safety obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and any other relevant legislation. Adapt to the ever‑changing environment within a Cambridge College and be a strong team player, whilst possessing a positive attitude in the workplace. Working arrangements and salary The role is a permanent position, part‑time or full‑time (37.5 hours per week) will be considered. On occasion evening or weekend working may be required. Salary in the region of £45,000 - £47,000 FTE pa, depending on skills and experience. The successful applicant will be subject to a six‑month probation period.
