About East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) EKRH is an 80‑bed regional referral centre serving roughly 82,000 people in East Kootenay. The hospital offers 24/7 emergency and trauma services, a 16‑bed unit, a 6‑bed ICU, and comprehensive clinical departments including internal medicine, OB/GYN, general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT, pathology, psychiatry, pediatrics, anesthesia, radiology, urology, and family practice inpatient care. Recent upgrades include a level‑3 lab, new MRI, SPECT CT, and upcoming CT scanners. Construction is underway for a new NICU, renovated ER triage, oncology and renal departments. Role and Responsibilities Provide comprehensive adult psychiatric care in a 12‑bed inpatient unit and outpatient clinic. Deliver round‑the‑clock care, including consultations in medical, surgical units, and the emergency department. Lead initiatives to expand mental health access in rural East Kootenays and collaborate with Indigenous partners. Manage a spectrum of adult conditions, including chronic mental health issues, substance use disorders, and emerging adult‑specific treatment modalities. Engage in continuous learning and professional development, fostering innovation in adult psychiatry practice. Help shape the future of adult mental health by influencing policies, programs, and interdisciplinary care strategies. Qualifications Board‑eligible or board‑certified in adult psychiatry. Demonstrated experience in inpatient and outpatient adult psychiatric care. Strong collaboration skills, especially in community‑driven and Indigenous partnership settings. Commitment to lifelong learning and innovative practice. Benefits and Compensation Compensation: Total compensation ranges from $400,000 to $600,000, combining fee‑for‑service, sessional contracts, and MOCAP Level 2. Possible additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) includes a 14% retention premium, a flat fee of $21,696, and recruitment incentives of $20,000 prorated for part‑time physicians.
