Role and FacilityJoin EKRH's hospitalist team and bring your compassionate style of care to our dynamic healthcare environment. The East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC serves an 80‑bed regional referral centre for approximately 82,000 residents in the East Kootenay area. The hospital offers 24‑hour emergency and trauma services with 16 dedicated beds, a 6‑bed ICU, a high‑acuity response team, and a range of specialties including internal medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, ENT, pathology, psychiatry, paediatrics, anaesthesia, radiology, urology, and family practice inpatient care. Our facility is equipped with a level 3 laboratory, a recently purchased PCR machine, a MALDI/TOF device, and a new MRI suite with SPECTCT machines. Upcoming upgrades include a new NICU, renovation of the emergency department triage, and new oncology and renal departments. In addition to delivering high‑quality medical care, EKRH values community engagement and offers an ambient setting surrounded by mountains, lakes and wilderness.ResponsibilitiesYour responsibilities span a broad spectrum of medical care, overseeing and addressing the healthcare needs of admitted patients, from acute ailments to chronic conditions. As the primary physician during patients' hospital stays, you will orchestrate complex treatment plans while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team comprising nurses, specialists, surgeons and allied healthcare professionals. You will contribute to comprehensive, quality care throughout the hospital, and engage in projects centred on enhancing Physician Quality Improvement (PQI) backed by support from the Department of B.C. (DoBC).CompensationCompensation Type: Alternative Payment Arrangement.Estimated Remuneration for a full‑time hospitalist: $336,162.00 annually, plus MOCAP Level 2.Benefits and IncentivesVacation Leave: flexible and considerate colleagues provide ample time to recharge and unwind.Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) may offer additional remuneration, including a 14% retention premium, a flat fee of $21,696, relocation funding ($9,000 within BC, $12,000 within Canada, $15,000 for those relocating from outside Canada), and a recruitment incentive of $20,000 prorated for part‑time physicians. Other benefits include RCME allowances ($1,320 up to 2 years, $3,520 during the 3rd and 4th year, and $5,720 after 4 years) and Doctors of BC CME funds.
