Job Summary To lead, provide and develop clinical pharmacy services to meet the needs of Gastroenterology and Hepatitis cross‑site. To lead by example in the field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and ensure a consistently high quality clinical pharmacy service is delivered in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. To work independently to provide patient care ensuring effectiveness and safety of treatment is maintained and financial obligations are met. Identify and promote best practice. Ensure delivery of the clinical governance agenda in relation to drug use to minimise the number of drug‑related incidents. Motivate and inspire others (both within pharmacy and the directorate) to create and maintain a good working environment and facilitate staff retention. Proactively develop clinical pharmacy services in line with local and national objectives. Demonstrate innovation in the highly specialised field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology pharmacy practice. Person Specification Education and Qualifications (Essential) Degree in Pharmacy (and completion of pre‑registration training) Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or equivalent relevant training and experience Independent Prescribing qualification Registered as a practising pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council Education and Qualifications (Desirable) MSc in clinical pharmacy Royal Pharmaceutical Society (faculty) membership Experience (Essential) Experience as an advanced clinical pharmacist practitioner, able to demonstrate a high level of competency Considerable demonstrable specialist experience in medicine Variety of clinical practice to include Gastro‑enterology, general medicine and surgical rotations Delivering training and education at post‑graduate level Multidisciplinary health services research Experience in management of others Clinical audit to improve practice Screening Clinical Trial protocols Experience (Desirable) Excellence or Mastery within the majority of competencies of the management clusters i.e. the ability to successfully deliver at a Consultant Pharmacist level. Active participation in multi‑disciplinary health care research Skills and Knowledge (Essential) Identifies and implements best practice to enhance the quality of patient care Influence senior pharmacy and medical staff, the multidisciplinary team, management, directors and commissioners Advanced level of clinical reasoning and judgement and manages difficult and ambiguous problems with expert clinical knowledge and skills Skills and Knowledge (Desirable) Reconciles national priorities with local realities Recognised as a national and/or international expert within the speciality of HIV pharmacy Personal Qualities (Essential) Enthusiasm for the position.
