We also welcome flexible working patterns for all our vacancies, including job share.The Monitoring Data & Systems Team (MDS) manages important Environmental Monitoring systems and datasets. You will join a multi-disciplinary team supporting and learning from colleagues while analysing and improving data that underpins our work.The Technical Officer helps manage these systems and data and provides support to users.You will fulfil a multi‑purpose role, working on our Water Quality systems and data, and will be expected to support other systems and data as needed. You will work closely with team members and can expect to be involved in the following:Set up and manage usersSupport users and resolve issues, especially when we move to our new My Environment applicationUpdate, improve and maintain datasetsRespond to internal and external data requestsSupport system improvement and upgrade projectsEveryone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises. Having an incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency.We offer a great benefits package, including generous annual leave, excellent pension, flexible working arrangements, and extensive training to develop your career, including apprenticeships.Experience / Skills Required:Experience of working with large complex datasetsWillingness to develop and learn new technical skills and apply these across monitoring data and systemsA motivated, organised, friendly and helpful person with an eye for detail, comfortable working in a dispersed team environmentA proactive problem‑solver who enjoys solving problemsExcellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiencesAbility to build and maintain strong relationships, deliver through others and provide excellent customer serviceOther Desirable Experience / Skills:Experience of using and managing environmental monitoring data systemsExperience of using PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online and RWorking knowledge of water quality monitoringWork location is flexible, but you must have a base at one of our offices across England and have a presence there. We offer hybrid home/office working but some travel is expected for meetings.We expect to hold interviews via MS Teams towards the end of December / Beginning of Jan.
