About the Role
One of my local government clients is seeking a Finance Officer to join our Deputyship Service within the Corporate Finance Hub. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting vulnerable adults who lack the capacity to manage their own financial affairs.

Key Responsibilities
*
Manage a personal caseload of deputyship and appointeeship clients in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Care Act 2014.

Prepare and submit applications to the Court of Protection and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Administer clients’ day-to-day finances, including banking, bill payments, benefit claims, and tax returns.
*
Liaise with internal council teams, support workers, and external agencies such as the Office of the Public Guardian, DWP, HMRC, and financial institutions.
*
Conduct financial reviews, reconciliations, and ensure accurate documentation of all financial activity.
*
Provide professional advice to colleagues and stakeholders on deputyship and appointeeship matters.
*
Carry out client visits within the Borough as required.
*
Support the wider Corporate Finance Hub with related administrative and financial duties.
About You
We are looking for a motivated, empathetic, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a busy environment and is passionate about supporting vulnerable residents.

Experience using finance or client management systems.
*
Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
*
Empathy, discretion, and professionalism when dealing with sensitive issues.
*
Willingness to travel within the Borough for client-related visits.
Desirable:
*
A relevant qualification in finance or administration (e.g. AAT, APAD Accreditation).
