Primary Specialist Teacher Opportunity Make a Life- Changing Difference Location Bristol Role Two Primary Specialist Class Teachers (Key Stage 2/Upper Primary) Contract Full Time, Permanent or Temporary Basis Start Date January 2026 The School and Setting We are a highly successful specialist educational provision dedicated to supporting students who thrive in a small, therapeutic, and nurturing environment. Our mission is to re:engage young people who have become hesitant about learning, offering them the stability, confidence, and tailored support they need to succeed. Our Students Children are typically in Years 3 to 6 (approx. ages 7‑11) and face complex needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and Speech, Communication and Language Needs (SCLN). The Challenge All students present with an academic delay of 1 to 4 years, requiring exceptionally patient, creative, and highly differentiated teaching. Class Structure Our small:group model is key to our success. Class sizes are a maximum of 6 pupils, supported by one or two dedicated Teaching Assistants (TAs). Your Focus Will Include Creating a Predictable Environment: Establishing a safe and structured learning space that actively utilises the now and next approach to reduce student anxiety and manage transitions. Therapeutic Teaching: Employing highly creative teaching methods and strong visual aids to make learning accessible and engaging for students with ASC and SCLN. Individualised Support: Demonstrating the patience and skill to support children who struggle significantly with change, helping them develop emotional regulation and resilience. Curriculum Adaptation: Planning and delivering a primary curriculum that effectively bridges significant attainment gaps and rebuilds foundational skills. Teamwork: Working collaboratively with TAs and our wider pastoral team to integrate educational and therapeutic goals. What We Offer You Small Class Sizes: The opportunity to build genuine relationships and deliver meaningful impact within a maximum class size of 6 pupils. High Level of Support: Excellent ratio of 1 or 2 TAs per class. Negotiable Working Pattern: We recognise the unique commitment of specialist teachers. For the right candidate, we are willing to discuss and potentially negotiate working hours and expectations around planning and marking to achieve a sustainable work:life balance. Term Time: We operate a term:time schedule. Working Hours (Standard : Negotiable) Monday, Thursday: 8:15 AM – 4:00 PMTuesday: 8:15 AM – 4:30 PMWednesday: 8:15 AM – 5:00 PMFriday: 8:15 AM – 3:30 PM The Ideal Candidate MUST Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Demonstrable experience working with children presenting with SEMH, ASC, and/or complex learning needs in a primary setting. A proven ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and therapeutically. A creative and flexible approach to curriculum delivery and classroom practice. A deep commitment to making a positive, long:term difference to vulnerable children.
