Teach Now is seeking a warm, dedicated and motivated SEN Teacher to join a beautiful, well-resourced primary school in Finchley (Barnet). This full-time maternity cover role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher looking to make a meaningful impact while growing their career in a supportive and nurturing environment.

About the School & ARP Setting

• You’ll be joining a highly regarded primary school featuring:

• An Autism-friendly classroom designed for calm, structured learning

• A dedicated soft play/therapy room, sensory room, and life-skills kitchen

• A private outdoor playground and garden

The ARP class consists of 6 pupils, supported by 2 experienced TAs, with some children integrating into mainstream for core subjects.

The Role

In this rewarding position, you will:

• Deliver engaging lessons following a structured curriculum (English, maths, phonics, PE, cooking, music)

• Use tools such as Word, Google, Widgit and visual timetables

• Apply approaches including colourful semantics and Attention Autism

• Support pupils across a range of needs, stretching higher-level learners and scaffolding others

• Contribute to personal care when required

• Communicate sensitively and professionally with parents

• Maintain high safeguarding, assessment and data-protection standards (B² preferred)

Qualified Teacher Status

• Recent safeguarding, assessment (B² or EYFS), and Positive Handling training

• Empathy, resilience, excellent organisation and strong behaviour strategies

• A commitment to ensuring children are happy, learning and progressing
