Senior Front Office Software Engineer - Short Term Power Markets Join to apply for the Senior Front Office Software Engineer - Short Term Power Markets role at Castleton Commodities International. Our Data Science & Technology team builds high‑performance systems and innovative tools that empower front‑office teams to forecast price movements, manage risk, and make data‑driven decisions. Role Overview This position is based in London and focuses on short‑term power initiatives, building tools and systems that enable traders and quantitative analysts to test and execute strategies efficiently in fast‑moving power markets. The successful candidate will design, develop, and maintain real‑time trading applications, analytics platforms, and data pipelines critical to systematic trading and risk management. Responsibilities Partner directly with traders and analysts to engineer and optimize trading processes, analytical models, and systematic strategies. Build and maintain scalable, high‑performance Python services and APIs that power the analytics platform. Develop solutions to support supply and demand models, market data analysis, and strategy research. Design and implement cloud‑native tools, including real‑time analytics, visualization interfaces, and workflow automation, that integrate seamlessly into the Front Office platform. Design and build a robust, reusable framework that integrates seamlessly with the Data Science & Technology data platform to support back‑testing activities. Ensure low‑latency data access and efficient system performance across real‑time price feeds, position tracking, and order execution tools. Partner with Data Engineers to integrate live and historical market data for modeling, forecasting, and back‑testing workflows. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field. 10+ years of professional software engineering experience in Python, with at least 5 years supporting Intraday Short‑Term Power trading or similar real‑time energy market environments. Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design principles. Familiarity with fundamental and weather datasets, as well as market data sources such as EPEX, ENTSO‑E, or Nord Pool. Advanced knowledge of SQL and relational database technologies. Experience with DevOps practices, including Docker and cloud‑native deployments. Experience in Linux and Windows environments. Exposure to AWS and Snowflake technologies is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills across technical and non‑technical audiences. Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and passion for technology innovation. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic high‑intensity environment, including willingness to work beyond normal hours when required.
