Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust CAMHS Nurse Band 6 (12 months fixed term contract) The closing date is 28 December 2025 An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a CYPMHS Nurse Practitioner in our CYPMHS North team, delivering a high-quality service provision that promotes and improves the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people and their families. We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated nurse looking for a change in direction. Who is willing to develop skills and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of children and young people; to deliver care, advice and support to children and young people with mental health problems. You must be a NMC registered nurse and possess experience of working directly with service users. You will be responsible for demonstrating excellent clinical outcomes and safe and effective delivery of care to children and young people. CYPMHS North is a caring, supportive and hard-working team which prides itself on working creatively, innovatively and inclusively. We have worked in partnership with young people to re design our clinic room spaces, working to better meet the needs of young people with neurodiversity who are accessing our service, and the development of the intervention offer for families of our young people. We welcome all new staff to the team with a robust induction process to equip them for the work they will take forwards and promote leadership at all levels within the team. Main duties of the job The post holder will be responsible for assessing, formulating and providing treatment plans for children, adolescents and their families, in collaboration with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. As a qualified nurse the post holder will be required to demonstrate their ability to deliver the high standards of care required of a CYPMHS Nurse. The post holder will be required to prioritise attendance at all training, attend supervision and apply reflective practice continuously to enable learning needs to be identified and met. The post holder will provide advice, guidance and consultation for professionals from other agencies and other team members, and will be prepared to develop skills in teaching, training and supervision, through the supervision of nursing students. Job responsibilities Provide consultation, advice and training to professionals working within the community and within the multi-disciplinary team. Contribute to the development of CYPMHS through clinic and professional meetings. Prepare and present reports for a variety of meetings. Contribute towards training activities within Social Services, Health and Voluntary sector agencies in matters relating to Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health. To maintain knowledge of available resources, and of the roles of other agencies and to liaise on behalf of service users. To maintain up to date knowledge of relevant legislation safeguarding policies and procedures. To maintain up to date clinical and theoretical knowledge pertaining to child and adolescent mental health. To ensure that accurate computer records of all work undertaken are kept up to date. Person Specification Qualifications Registered Nurse Qualification Academic Qualifications (RMN/RNLD) Registered with the NMC Teaching and training experience Experience Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 (2007) Experience of partnership working with service users and care`rs, demonstrating dignity and respect Knowledge of risk assessment and management Knowledge of Safeguarding Children policy, practice and procedures Ability to identify and manage changes to clinical risks Demonstrate a positive value base to supporting young people with diverse and complex mental health needs Knowledge of Child & Adolescent development or willingness to learn as part of the progression post. Knowledge of Psycho-social approaches and/or methods or willingness to learn as part of the progression post Knowledge of current legislation and guidance relevant to the post Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
