You will be responsible for the holistic care of patients and their families. Care provided must be evidence based and planned in partnership to meet the needs of the women.

You are required to use the full range of midwifery skills in a variety of settings. You need to be aware of National/Local health initiatives and develop strategies for the delivery of Health Promotion to meet the needs of her client group.

You will deputise for all aspects of the work of the Band 7 midwife and participate in the development and teaching of staff and students.

To work as a midwife, as defined by the World Health Organisation, the Local Supervising Authority and the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s Midwives Rule and Code of Practice.

To work within East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust Guidelines and Protocols.

To care for a group of patients during a shift and achieve and maintain a high standard of Midwifery care.
