OverviewWe have an exciting opportunity for an Mental Health Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Wakefield, a category A Prison located in West Yorkshire. Hours7‑day service: Monday‑Friday 08:00‑16:00 or 08:00‑18:00, Saturday‑Sunday 08:30‑16:30. 18:00 finish. Weekend duties and bank holidays are shared across the team. No night shifts. SalaryFull‑time position with an annual salary up to £40,500 per annum, depending on experience. How we support youBespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training courseCompetency frameworkRegional and national career development opportunitiesOur bespoke Learning Management System to address your learning needsSupport from the wider team Main duties of the jobWork within a multi‑disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options.Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have experienced trauma and may be distressed.Assess patients’ health needs using an evidence‑based framework and conduct risk assessments using sound clinical knowledge, as well as open, maintain, close and partake in reviews of individuals managed under the Prison Suicide and Self‑Harm risk management system known as Assessment, Care in Custody and Teamwork (ACCT). Qualifications requiredNMC registered Mental Health NurseEvidence of Continued Professional DevelopmentUnderstanding of the complexities of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency workingA non‑judgmental and compassionate approachExcellent communication skills Experience (Desirable)While not essential, applicants with experience in a hospital, community or prison environment will be highly regarded.
