Bank Salaried GP
As a large practice we have regular periods of time when someone in the team is on leave and we are looking for an enthusiastic Salaried GP to work as a Bank Salaried GP, helping to backfill absences or support periods of high demand. We are a friendly, well organised, GMS Practice with high QOF scores and a good CQC rating. The Practice has 7 Partners and 10 Salaried GPs along with Advanced Care Practitioners, an urgent care team including Nurse Practitioners, Primary Care Practitioners, a Mental Health Nurse and a pharmacy team of Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians. We are part of our local PCN which also works closely with a second local PCN. We work across 3 branches, providing care for over 24,000 and use EMIS Web, EPS, Docman10 and Accurx. In 2021 our main branch moved to new, purpose built premises and our list size is growing at a steady rate. We offer a range of 3 contract options to Salaried GPs. Each option has a different level of workload which we hope allows applicants to select a role that they are comfortable with. Main duties of the job Usual sessions consist of a mix of face to face and telephone consultations, although we are keen to embrace the advantages of new ways of working that we continue to develop. The rota is arranged so that one GP is on call each morning and afternoon and is able to provide same day support to the wider clinical team. A second GP is primarily responsible for visits each morning. Remaining GPs have routine sessions made up of telephone or face to face consultations. Patients are given a choice of selecting face to face or telephone at the time that they book their appointment. This role would need to provide cover for all types of sessions. About us Although we are a large team of over 100 staff working across 3 sites, the Partners consider it important to maintain a supportive team ethos. All clinicians are supported to develop personal interests and as a result we have excellent links with the RCGP, academia, local practice networks and the ICB. We are an advanced training practice taking trainees, medical students and international scholars. Together we bring our experiences from outside the practice to innovate and push the standards of care we provide higher. Key financial benefits that the practice offers are: Reimbursement of indemnity costs related to the sessions worked at the practice6 weeks of annual leave, 2 weeks of additional leave to cover bank holidays, 1 week of study leave (currently under discussion as this may increase to 2 weeks). All pro rata. In addition to protected learning afternoons, we have a fortnightly meeting slot. Meetings includes safeguarding, palliative care, significant events and our Journal Club at which clinicians discuss patient concerns, share new learning or discuss new guidance. We also have a meeting for Salaried GPs approximately every 6-8 weeks - this meeting is with one of the Partners, the Business Manager and the Clinical Services Manager and allows time to discuss proposals made by the Partners, share ideas and raise any queries or concerns. Job responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities The duties of the post holder are to provide a full range of general medical services which will include domiciliary visits as deemed appropriate. You will also be encouraged to utilise and develop any skills for the improvement of services to patients, such as minor operations, child health surveillance, family planning, training etc and the Partnership encourages active engagement in developing and delivering new services. This will be subject to presentation of the appropriate certificates and update of relevant courses. Clinical Duties A Salaried GP session is defined as 4 hours 10 min. On average this session will include 2.5-3 hours of patient facing clinical time and will match the clinical sessions of partners. Appointments are scheduled at 10-15 minute intervals. Whilst the patients are able to see any GP of their choice, the practice uses the named GP to encourage continuity of care, and as a way to maintain an equitable administrative workload. Named GP numbers are in proportion to the number of weekly sessions worked. As a Bank Salaried GP you will be responsible for the administrative workload of the person that you are covering. The Partners believe that the job plan allows sufficient time to complete all administrative duties related to your clinical work, recognising the fact that all practitioners work at different rates. This will include some reports. Should a Salaried GP need to complete a report outside your usual working hours you will be paid the report fee in addition to your salary. Group and Continual Professional Development We value continual professional development and professionalism and to that end we create time for peer support. We encourage open dialogue and conversation that will assist you with your personal development and growth. The practice is a training practice and you will be expected to provide appropriate support for any students or trainees in the Practice.
