Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for an Income and Banking Officer to join our Finance team based in London or Manchester. About us We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037. Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year. Centrepoint operates a hybrid working model. The requirement is a minimum of 50% of your working week. For most full‑time colleagues, this means attending the office for five days over a two‑week period. For colleagues on different contracts this will be adjusted accordingly. About you The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a busy finance department, specifically income/sales ledger. You must be highly numerate, able to work independently, prioritise effectively, and communicate well with colleagues at all levels. What you’ll be doing You will be responsible for recording, posting and banking all income from a range of sources, and will take primary responsibility for credit control and debt collection. Key responsibilities Ensuring all income (including grants, fundraising activities, and cash) is recorded, posted, and banked timely and accurately. Leading on credit control, reviewing aged debtors monthly and promptly chasing non‑payment. Raising sales invoices and/or credit notes and processing them on Sun. Assisting with bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies. Liaising with the Fundraising Department on reconciling income in the finance and fundraising databases. Providing management reports on performance, such as rent arrears and debtors’ reports. What we’d be looking for from you Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet targets. Ability to interpret and analyse data and offer advice. Strong organisational skills to meet deadlines and commitments. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels. Knowledge and understanding of financial processes and procedures as well as new developments within and outside the sector. Demonstrable experience working in a busy finance department including income/sales ledger and at least one other key discipline e.g. payroll or purchase ledger. Experience of working to and delivering against tight deadlines. High level of numeracy. Minimum ‘A’ level or an accountancy qualification such as AAT. Why join Centrepoint?
