Head of Communications – Traverse Theatre

The Traverse Theatre is looking for a creative and motivated Head of Communications to be responsible for overseeing and developing our communications strategies across programme, events, brand and audience engagement, whilst maximising income generation through effective campaigns and communications.

Typical duties include:

  • Lead on the development, implementation and monitoring of marketing, communications, digital and development strategies
  • Work with Executive Team and other departments to outline and fulfil strategic objectives
  • Lead team delivery across marketing, press, ticketing and data analysis, acting as line manager to team leaders
  • Overall responsibility for audience development campaigns across the organisation
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasting of income
  • Maximise attendance and income for all performances and events
  • Develop and maintain appropriate research, sales analysis and monitoring programmes
  • Negotiate and manage all relevant contractual relationships with external organisations, suppliers and contractors
  • Undertake horizon-scanning to ensure positive response to emerging marketing and audience development innovations.

Our ideal candidate will have proven experience of designing and delivering comprehensive communication strategies and managing media relations. We are also looking for someone with experience of effective team management and budget management. With a sound knowledge of GDPR you should also be highly organised, with strong communication skills and be able to manage multiple projects and stakeholders. Excellent IT skills is a must as well as exceptional attention to detail. If you feel you have everything we are looking for we would love to hear from you.

This is a permanent, full-time post with a probationary period of 6 months. Salary is £40,000-£45,000 per annum dependent on experience. Hours of work are 40 per week over 5 days, however additional hours will be required over the busy Fringe Festival period.

Annual leave entitlement is 32 days per annum, including public holidays and we operate a pension scheme with Traverse matched contributions at 4%.
