Overview Join to apply for the Operating Department Practitioner role at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic ODP to join our Anaesthetic team in Main Theatres. We welcome applications from experienced or newly qualifying practitioners and are proud of our ethos of supporting newly qualified practitioners in a team‑oriented environment. We provide an in‑house induction, an excellent preceptorship package, and internal and external training opportunities to support your continued professional development. You will be given a rotational plan to ensure you achieve competence in your allocated specialty. The Main Theatre Suite comprises nine theatres and one recovery unit; one theatre is dedicated to obstetrics and two are modern integrated laparoscopic theatres. The team also provides skilled anaesthetic assistance in CT, MRI, Accident & Emergency, level 3 transfers, and the hospital resuscitation team. Responsibilities Participate in a rota system that provides 24‑hour care, including weekends and public holidays. Provide clinical support within the anaesthetic team, ensuring effective support for colleagues to plan, monitor and evaluate skills in the delivery of appropriate care for perioperative patients. Provide a quality service with responsibility for patient safety and standards of care, ensuring the provision of evidence‑based care by being a role model providing specialist knowledge within theatre practice. Qualifications Registered ODPs or registered nurses with an approved UK anaesthetic qualification, or student ODPs nearing qualification. Will undergo an Enhanced DBS check (post involving access to vulnerable adults and/or children). Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper‑based patient records from 2026. We are building a new state‑of‑the‑art hospital to open in 2031/2 and undertaking large digital transformation work. We recognise and reward our 4,000 staff and volunteers, pride ourselves on a community atmosphere and positive team spirit, with approximately 530 beds across 33 wards and newly built education and training facilities.
