Operating Department Practitioner The closing date is 19 December 2025 We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Operating Department Practitioner to join our Anaesthetic team in Main Theatres. You will be given a rotational plan to ensure you achieve competence in your allocated specialty. Our Main Theatre Suite comprises of nine Theatres and one Recovery Unit; one of our theatres is a dedicated obstetric theatre and two of our theatres are modern, integrated laparoscopic theatres. The team also provides skilled anaesthetic assistance in other areas such as CT, MRI, Accident & Emergency, also supporting level 3 transfers to other unit and as part of the hospital resuscitation team. The successful candidates would be expected to participate in a rota system that provides 24 hour care, including weekends and public holidays. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will provide clinical support within the anaesthetic team, ensuring effective support for colleagues to plan, monitor and evaluate skills in the delivery of appropriate care for perioperative patients. Providing a quality service with responsibility for patient safety and standards of care, ensuring the provision of evidence-based care by being a role model providing specialist knowledge within theatre practice. This post has been identified as involving access to vulnerable adults and / or children and in line with Trust Policy; successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS Check. Please note, applications will only be considered from registered ODP's or registered Nurses with an approved UK anaesthetic qualification, or student ODP's nearing qualification. Person Specification Education/ Qualification Registered Operating Department Practitioner or nurse with UK approved anaesthetic qualification. Member of Professional Body For RN - ENB 176/183/182/HDU/Critical Care, Teaching qualification e.g. ENB 998, Mentorship Preparation Programme.C&G 730 Experience Have a sound knowledge/experience of basic theatre skills and theatre processes. If no previous theatre experience - a commitment to developing skills and knowledge and some understanding of the theatre environment. Experience in broad range of theatre specialities.
