Costume Revival Workroom Senior Technician - Part-Time Based in Covent Garden, London. Contract: Permanent; Part-time (Job‑share); 21.25 hours per week; Salary: £22,357.44 per annum. The Royal Ballet and Opera continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance both on stage and across multiple digital platforms. Our Covent Garden Theatre has been at the heart of London and British cultural life for three centuries and is home to The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera. Role The Costume Revival Workroom team provides a costume fitting and alteration service to the Royal Ballet and the Royal Opera. As a Senior Technician you will carry out repair, alteration and making of items for revival, co‑productions and hired productions to the highest standards, working closely with guest artists, dancers, chorus, actors and child performers across both Opera and Ballet. What You’ll Bring Proven track record in craft skills workrooms with a major producing theatre or venue, or comparable film/TV experience. Practical making experience and good knowledge of costume fitting and alteration techniques. Knowledge of traditional construction methods, period styles and costume history is an advantage. Ability to work unsupervised, show initiative, and a willingness to learn new skills and help train others. Relevant qualification, e.g. Theatrical Costume and Design course or apprenticeship in a craft skills area, is desirable. Knowledge of standard opera and ballet repertoire is an advantage.
