The Post As a major Strategic Business Unit within NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role for the health of the people of Scotland and internationally through leading product development, biomedical research and donor services. The role is available for HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists or for individuals with a degree or equivalent level with an IBMS accredited qualification, allowing registration via the trainee BMS route. For non‑HCPC registered applicants, please provide any further relevant qualifications or education. Failure to provide this information may result in the application not being progressed. The required IBMS accreditation details are: Name of University Name of Course and degree attained Year of graduation / expected year of graduation This is an excellent opportunity to work within the Manufacturing Department, responsible for manufacturing and testing specialised blood components from whole blood and apheresis collections, delivering high quality components to other SNBTS sites and hospitals across Scotland. Responsibilities The post holder will be part of a team ensuring timely and efficient service delivery to the highest quality standards required by regulatory bodies. Shift working is required (pattern covers 24/7/365). Experience in a transfusion/pathology laboratory is advantageous but not essential. Location and Working Pattern Jack Copland Centre, 52 Research Avenue North, Herriot‑Watt Research Park, Edinburgh, EH14 4BE Monday to Sunday, 37 hours per week. Shift pattern covers 24/7/365. Must live and remain a resident within the UK for the position.
