Deputy Shop Manager

Overview The Deputy Shop Manager role is a key management position within Oxfam shops, which raise vital funds for a global movement to end poverty and inequality. The shop operates a volunteer model and the manager supports a small paid team and volunteers. Responsibilities Lead the day‑to‑day shop operations, including sales, customer service and shop presentation. Support the shop manager in business planning, budgeting and achieving sales targets. Motivate and develop a diverse, inclusive team, promoting a safe and energised workplace. Partner with volunteers, manage shop IT systems and maintain shop administrative records. Represent Oxfam in the local community, engaging with supporters and collaborating with civil society organisations. Ensure Sunday shop hours (11:15 am – 4:15 pm) are staffed and operations run smoothly. Key Skills and Competencies Commercial awareness and strong merchandising abilities. Collaboration with the shop manager and internal stakeholders. Resilience and effective management of everyday pressures. Financial literacy – interpret reports, monitor budgets and maintain shop administration. Ability to develop and support an inclusive, diverse team and sustain shop day‑to‑day activities.
