Special Educational Needs Classroom Assistant. Job in North Shields Education

Leader Education are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to work at a specialist secondary school based in North Shields. This school caters for children aged 11-16 years old that predominantly have a diagnosis of ASC, exhibit complex learning difficulties and/or challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will express a genuine passion for education and have some experience working alongside children with SEND.This school’s most recent Ofsted report was presented as Good as it continues to create a safe, secure and nurturing environment for all pupils.The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30 4:30pm and is a long-term position given a successful trial.Successful Candidate Requirements:An enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain oneExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsSome experience working with children with SEND in an educational settingThe ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activitiesA good understanding of safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of childrenA compassionate personality and values honesty, inclusivity and respectLeader Education can offer:Competitive pay ratesRefer a friend or colleague bonus scheme: £100 per referral (terms apply)Free CPD including Team TeachA dedicated consultant to answer any queries and for ongoing supportPotential permanent contract after a qualifying periodInterested candidates are invited to submit a comprehensive CV outlining their teaching experience, qualifications which are relevant to this role.
