Senior Procurement Specialist – Strategic Categories Industry: Global Manufacturing & Supply Chain Location: Derby area Contract: Permanent Job Reward: £50-60k Target and plus 10% Bonus, Health and excellent pension Work Environment: Primarily onsite, although some Hybrid Flex Reporting To: Category Head of Procurement An established Global manufacturer with ambitious growth plans is seeking a skilled procurement professional to take ownership of a high-value indirect spend portfolio within indirect spend and direct supply chain projects to deliver. This role combines hands‑on delivery with strategic category management, ensuring best value from suppliers while supporting the wider business with innovative sourcing solutions. Responsibilities Lead sourcing initiatives across multiple indirect categories, running tenders, RFQs, and supplier evaluations, with an initial focus on CAPEX and Energy. Bring procurement, planning and supply chain solutions, overcoming barriers through exceptional stakeholder management and engagement skills. Develop and implement procurement strategies to reduce cost, mitigate risk, and enhance supplier performance. Manage supplier relationships and drive savings projects, supporting global initiatives and leading a high‑performing team. Cultivate strong connections with critical suppliers, evaluate performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure service standards align with company goals. Negotiate and finalise commercial agreements, ensuring contracts are robust. Analyse local expenditures on services and reduce costs with preferred suppliers. Track and report progress, status and savings of projects to Global Procurement and Factory. Monitor KPIs, identify performance gaps, and drive service improvements. Work closely with internal stakeholders, challenging existing supply models and introducing new ideas to optimise spend. Experience & Qualifications Proven indirect procurement experience, ideally in a large or multi‑site environment. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to drive commercial value. Understanding of contract law and supplier agreements. Proven project management experience, ideally with CAPEX and Energy indirect purchases, though direct categories are also acceptable. A strategic mindset with hands‑on leadership. Passion for driving change and continuous improvement. Highly organised, analytical and capable of influencing at all levels. Resilient, self‑motivated and confident, managing high‑value categories. Having a CIPS qualification (or current study) would be advantageous. Benefits Annual Bonus (10%+).
