Research Associate (Dexterous Soft Robotic Manipulators) Join the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath to work on an ARIA-funded project developing next-generation intelligent and dexterous soft robotic manipulators. About the Role The Research Associate will deliver high-quality research on topics including: Develop model- and learning-based approaches for modelling soft robotic manipulators. Develop an analytical framework for understanding and designing dexterous soft robotic manipulators. Integrate framework components and validate experimentally. Collaborate with co‑designers in the ARIA group. Qualifications PhD in a subject area directly relevant to the project. Experience in modelling, design, control or prototyping of robotic components and systems. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and project‑management skills. Self‑motivated with strong communication skills. Employment Details Full‑time fixed‑term (36.5 h per week) until June 2028. A lower grade offer (Grade 6) is available if a suitable applicant cannot be found for the Grade 7 position. Applicants must be within six months of course completion and will be promoted to Research Associate once their PhD has been awarded.
