OverviewArcadis is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The role is part of Arcadis' GROW graduate programme, a structured 3-year development path designed to build technical and consulting skills with mentoring, training, and support for relevant accreditations.Role descriptionAs a GROW graduate you will specialise within your chosen engineering discipline and gain experiences to become a technical expert. You will develop core engineering and consulting techniques for work with UK and international clients, while applying a human-centred approach to your technical work and delivering innovative, sustainable solutions.Role accountabilitiesWork within Arcadis civil engineering teams across highways, rail, energy, and water to deliver safe, high-quality, sustainable design solutions.Contribute to projects ranging from local schemes to major international developments, with mentoring and structured progression toward professional qualification.Use advanced software and digital tools to design infrastructure and assess existing assets for repair or reuse; gain hands-on experience across sectors and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.Learn about project delivery models, contracts, and commercial constraints; participate in site visits to ensure designs are safe, buildable, and sustainable.Help deliver resilient, low-carbon solutions that maximise environmental, social and economic impact.Engage with clients and stakeholders across all stages of project delivery from concept to construction, on UK and international projects.Specialist pathways and responsibilitiesHighways and Transportation: design safe, sustainable transportation infrastructure; work on roads, junctions, bridges, and active travel routes; exposure to transport planning, traffic modelling, and policy alignment.Water: work on waste and clean water infrastructure and ensure resilient water supplies through innovative and natural solutions.Rail: contribute to station infrastructure, bridges, utility crossings, drainage, and safety-critical rail systems, adhering to rail standards and safety requirements.Energy: support new connections and grid upgrades aligned with Net Zero carbon reduction goals.Qualifications & experienceGraduating in 2026 or recent graduate with at least a 2:2 in a relevant Bachelors or Master's degree (Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering).Demonstrated Arcadian skills including resilience, creativity, analytical thinking, and teamwork.Excellent communication skills and ability to apply technical knowledge to influence and consult stakeholders.Willing to travel and stay away from home where required (virtual working encouraged where possible).Why Arcadis?You will do meaningful work and contribute to delivering sustainable solutions for a more prosperous future.
