Senior Software Engineer – iOS Mobile Banking Job Title: Senior Software Engineer Reference Number: 9440 Location: Edinburgh, Permanent Department: BAR – Engineering Business Area: Engineering Working Time: Full‑Time Date Published: 26‑11‑2025 Salary: £51,280 – £60,000 + annual bonus & benefits Office Attendance: Hybrid – 2 days per week in Edinburgh office Closing Date: 10th December at 5pm About the Role We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our iOS mobile banking app team at Tesco Bank, part of Barclays Bank UK PLC. The role involves building customer‑facing journeys and low‑level code in the iOS app, as well as contributing to CI/CD pipelines. You’ll Work With A largely Swift codebase, using modern language features such as async/await, actors and strict concurrency checking Modern frameworks such as SwiftUI and Swift Testing CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins and Fastlane What You’ll Be Doing Developing the iOS mobile application using Swift Collaborating with analysts, product owners, UX designers, testers and scrum masters within the team Supporting junior engineers and the tech lead in day‑to‑day activities Owning technical debt, establishing consistent best‑practice and finding new ways to improve the codebase We Need You To Have A strong grasp of OO principles, SOLID principles, testability, design patterns and anti‑patterns A collaborative, pragmatic mindset and strong critical‑thinking skills At least 2–3 years of mobile development experience Experience working with both Swift and Objective‑C And If You Have Any of These, Even Better Experience working in an agile environment Line management experience Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins Experience utilising AI effectively in a development environment Benefits Pension scheme to prepare for retirement Private Medical Insurance (WL2+) and virtual GP service 365 days a year Performance‑related annual bonus Generous holiday allowance – minimum 7.2 weeks, with option to buy more Colleague Clubcard benefits (until March 2026) – 10% discount, rising to 15% every payday, plus a second card for a colleague Enhanced maternity leave pay, shared parental leave and generous paid paternity leave Ongoing learning opportunities and training to support career growth Everyone’s Welcome We’re committed to building a more inclusive workplace, celebrating the diversity of our colleagues and ensuring everyone feels welcome.
