FanDuel Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom Software Engineering Senior Manager FanDuel Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom THE POSITION Our Permits & Eligibility team is responsible for authorizing every deposit, withdrawal, and bet that is placed at FanDuel. Our Tier 1 System requires the highest level of availability as any impact to our system can affect the rest of the company. You will be leading the team responsible for building and maintaining our Permits & Eligibility platform that supports the foundational products of FanDuel, including FanDuel Sportsbook, FanDuel Casino, FanDuel Racing, and FanDuel Daily Fantasy Sports. We use AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, SQL, Java, and other technologies. As a Software Engineering Senior Manager at FanDuel, you can develop your skills and experience as the manager of an Agile software engineering team. You will directly manage a team of engineers and be accountable for customer experience, project prioritization, software quality, and system maintenance. You set the example for our values and help engineers grow by encouraging them to contribute to cross‑team technical discussions, supporting their ideas, and empowering them to make decisions. Most of all, you are accountable for the experience, management, and development of the engineers that report to you. THE GAME PLAN Manage, identify, and provide opportunities for software engineers to progress in their careers. Work with senior and staff engineers to deliver a technical vision focused on customer satisfaction and security. Proactively identify technology gaps and opportunities, mitigate risks created through technical and regulatory complexity. Collaborate with your product partner to build, prioritize, and deliver your teams’ roadmap, communicating blockers and progress throughout the project lifecycle. Measure, own, and drive predictability through operational excellence and transparency with data and KPIs. Own your software: build it and run it, providing appropriate support for users. Help scope and define new solutions, influencing the roadmap and ensuring we deliver truly viable features and products. Look after the health and wellbeing of your team. THE STATS A strong technology background delivering software as an individual contributor or manager. Understanding of various Agile flavors and which situations are most appropriate to use them. Good communication, presentation, and facilitation skills. Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive. Demonstrated abilities in driving operational excellence and best practices. Understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances. Ability to communicate technical concepts simply and successfully, to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience writing distributed, highly scalable, and highly available backend systems and APIs. Good citizenship, stakeholder, and team management. Will exemplify our company behaviors. Experience in hiring, building, and developing Agile engineering teams.
