Senior Solicitor - Regulatory Healthcare Weightmans is a top 40 ranked law firm and we are seeking an Inquest solicitor to join our expanding Regulatory Healthcare Advisory team. The team offers a broad range of expert advice to organisations and individuals in relation to health‑based regulatory matters and proceedings. Our client base includes NHS Trusts, private healthcare providers, care homes, and we handle inquests, Court of Protection applications, Mental Health Tribunals, and other regulatory challenges, including advising on and defending prosecutions by the Care Quality Commission and providing advice on consent, confidentiality, capacity, best interests, and discharge processes. The role will primarily focus on managing a caseload of inquest files for our various NHS clients, care homes, and other organisations, and may involve broader healthcare advisory work. In addition to core inquest responsibilities, there is an expectation to work on clients outside the core caseload. Main Duties And Responsibilities Manage a case load of files Attend Inquest hearings at court, including travel Advocacy at pre‑inquest review hearings and inquests Meetings with clients and witnesses in preparation for court hearings Work in accordance with Weightmans values About You You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in this area of work. Essential Qualified solicitor, 4–10 years PQE Advocacy experience Willingness to develop advocacy skills Desirable\ Regulatory defence experience Inquest advocacy experience The Candidate Should Be Able To Demonstrate Healthcare experience is desirable Inquest experience is desirable Regulatory defence experience is desirable Excellent organisational and time‑management skills Excellent collaborative and team‑working skills Excellent communication skills Excellent IT skills Ability to work to deadlines and targets Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative If you meet our criteria and think this is a job where you could bring enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn, we look forward to receiving your application.
