About the role As a principal / staff product manager, you will own the foundational layer of Samsara’s second-largest business, Telematics. You will build the core system that drives every critical feature in the Telematics ecosystem: Maintenance, Fleet & EV Management, diagnostics, compliance. Responsibilities Define the long‑term vision and roadmap for the Vehicle and Asset Data Platform, positioning it as a multi‑hundred‑million dollar platform that drives new revenue streams. Own and optimize the data acquisition process from a fleet of 1.4M+ connected devices to ensure complete and high‑quality data ingestion. Evolve platform capabilities for standardizing and centralizing vehicle data, supporting growth across all dependent product features. Continuously improve data consistency and accuracy across the vehicle data ingestion pipeline, treating it as a core platform quality metric. Strategically lead OEM integration efforts, using data‑driven analysis to track market share trends and partner proactively with product and engineering leaders. Develop new, impactful Telematics offers for emerging vehicle types, such as heavy‑duty vehicles. Drive cross‑functional collaboration with engineering and downstream product teams, managing intake and prioritization of platform needs. Communicate and evangelize roadmap and priorities to executive and cross‑product line leadership, seeking joint innovation opportunities. Minimum requirements Proven track record of driving measurable business impact through shipping product, not just managing activity. Experience defining and executing a product roadmap for complex technical platform areas (core infrastructure, external APIs, data platforms). Strong technical acumen with deep understanding of enterprise‑scale reliability and performance. Ability to operate in significant ambiguity, using an analytical and data‑driven approach to measure progress toward goals. Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting to customers, internal audiences, and senior executives. 10+ years of relevant technical product management experience. BS/MS in STEM (Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent professional experience. An ideal candidate also has Experience developing and launching highly successful developer platforms or public‑facing APIs. Prior experience working on a product with high volume of IoT data, real‑time streaming data, or complex physical‑world inputs. Background in data platform, infrastructure, or platform‑as‑a‑service product management.
