Food Technology Teacher Location: Croydon Start date: January 2026 Recruitment Partner: Complete Classroom Services Are you passionate about empowering young women through practical and inspiring food education? We are working in partnership with a forward‑thinking all‑girls secondary school in the London Borough of Croydon to appoint a Food Technology Teacher on a full‑time contract, starting in January 2026. About the School Located in Croydon, the school is committed to delivering a dynamic, supportive and aspirational environment where every student is encouraged to succeed. With a strong focus on practical learning, creative thinking and life‑skills, the food technology department plays a vital role in fostering resilience, independence and healthy choices in young women. The Role Teach Food Technology across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (and if applicable, support options at Sixth Form) – planning, delivering and assessing lessons that bring food science, nutrition, cookery skills, design and technology together. Create engaging, hands‑on practical sessions and theory lessons that motivate and challenge students to develop both culinary skills and broader life‑skills (such as health, hygiene, sustainability, budgeting, menu planning). Contribute to curriculum development: refine schemes of work, introduce new recipes/projects, manage resources, maintain safe and effective practical teaching spaces. Encourage extra‑curricular opportunities (e.g., cooking clubs, competitions, community food events) that raise the profile of the subject and student engagement. Work collaboratively with the department and whole‑school team to uphold the school’s ethos of high expectations, positive behaviour, inclusion and the empowerment of girls. About You Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, and substantial experience (or readiness) teaching Food Technology/Design & Technology with food specialism in a secondary school. Strong subject knowledge in food science, nutrition, practical cookery, food safety and hygiene; comfortable planning both theory and practical lessons. Skilled at engaging students in practical learning, with the ability to differentiate and scaffold for a range of abilities to ensure all students succeed. Excellent communicator, able to inspire confidence, independence and curiosity in female students; enthusiastic about practical work and its links to real‑life contexts. A team player willing to contribute to the wider life of the school, including departmental innovation, mentoring, cross‑curriculum links and enriching activities. Why Join?
