Yes, you’ll learn from us, but we expect to learn from you too General Summary This position reports to the Head of Aerodynamic Engineering or their designee; is located in Maranello and/or Castelnuovo Rangone, Italy. This position aims to ensure the optimal execution of wind tunnel activities, particularly in relation to model preparation and test planning. Key Responsibilities Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments. Write procedures and plan tests in the model shop and wind tunnel. Coordinate and carry out activities related to the preparation of the wind tunnel model, including but not limited to: Ensuring the correct functioning of electronic components, Performing 3D scanning of the model, Assembling and pre-fitting in accordance with aerodynamic plans, Verifying the proper functioning of pressure taps, etc. Actively participate in the definition of modular solutions with the Design office and the aerodynamics team, as well as in their implementation. Create reports to communicate and evaluate results, sharing relevant information from your area of expertise with other teams. Analyze wind tunnel test results and take necessary actions to ensure alignment with the quality and repeatability standards defined with your line manager. Create and maintain accurate documentation related to the components that make up the wind tunnel model. Follow all safety regulations in all venues. Other duties as assigned by the Head of Aerodynamic Engineering or their designee. Education and Work Experience A degree in engineering is required, with a specialization in Aerodynamics, Mechanics, or an equivalent qualification. Previous experience in a wind tunnel environment or in the motorsport sector is considered a plus. Specialized Knowledge and Skills Strong communication skills, written and verbal. Have an excellent understanding of English language. Strong technical background in racing car. Experience with CAD software. A solid understanding of aerodynamics and fluid analysis. Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way. Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels. A sympathetic approach to work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment. A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential. Equipment and Applications Computer with Microsoft Office and engineering packages including but not limited to, wind tunnel, basic hand tools, fabrication tools. Thorough understanding of and experience with CAD, with expertise in CATIA/3DX. Data Acquisition experience is helpful. Work Environment Physical Demands An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional domestic & international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends. This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids.
