We’re looking for a Project Controls Standards manager. Based at our Capenhurst site, the purpose of the role is to ensure adequate and consistent standards in project controls in Urenco’s project portfolio. The Project Controls Standards Manager remit includes the proficient application of standards and responsibility for the project controls output in Urenco’s project portfolio.

This role forms part of Group Projects, Project Standards team, which provides standards and tools to Urenco, ensuring the appropriate direct project support is in place to effectively and efficiently manage the delivery of project expenditure. The Project Controls Standards Manager will assume functional accountability for the effective application of Urenco standards, and be responsible for project controls output for Urenco projects.
The Project Controls Standards Manager will provide subject matter expert consulting, advice and instruction. The role will be accountable for the development and maintenance of Urenco’s processes and procedures for project controls.

What you’ll do:

• Act as subject matter expert for project controls, with a particular focus on cost management and reporting within a project controls framing, maintaining a high level of quality control and promoting a culture of accountability
• Be a strong project manager when needed, challenging resistance and making sometimes tough decisions for the best interests of the function and being a diligent custodian of the role and wider function
• Maintain an overview of subject matter expert skills and competencies and provide development of project support resources both contract and staff
• Ensure alignment between the business objectives and the project control standards, ensuring approval of processes which are deviations and exceptions from standards
• Be responsible for maturing existing processes and putting new processes, policies and procedures in place around all areas, including training, new system integration, planning, risk, estimating
• Leveraging experience from a number of industry sectors and continuously scan the international market for good practice, analysing developments and assessing how they can be exploited by Urenco to further value creation/delivery/capture/protection

What do you need to thrive in this role?

• Relevant qualification and evidence of project management acumen ideally backed up with a qualification
• Experience managing change and overcoming resistance
• Demonstrable experience working within the entire project lifecycle, from concept development to hand-over. Experience working for a client organisation operating a gated project process would be advantageous
• A proven background in a project controls management role and/or a solid background in an aligned job family such as project management
• A particular flair for shaping and leading cost management and reporting processes
• Experience mentoring, training and helping and managing the integration of new processes and procedures such as new software packages or ways of working
• Being able to act as authority and give sound advice and instruction within a wide role remit as and when needed
• Familiarity with software such as Primavera P6, SAP/SAP S/4HANA, MS Project and reporting software
