Attendance Lead

We are seeking to appoint an organised, ambitious, self‑motivated and passionate member of staff to join our very effective and highly valued student support team. This is a key role in our school, working in partnership with senior school staff to promote excellent attendance. You will reduce levels of absence and work with children and families to promote high levels of attendance. Key responsibilities Collecting, recording, monitoring and reporting on data regarding attendance and punctuality Supporting the school to improve attendance levels and reduce persistent absence Leading on strategies to improve attendance in partnership with senior school staff and the Surrey Inclusion Officer Line‑managing our part‑time Attendance Administrator Working closely with the Heads of Year to support students’ academic progress, behaviour for learning and pastoral support and wellbeing Co‑ordinating with other staff, parents and external agencies Holding meetings with parents when attendance is a cause for concern Required skills and experience A resilient and highly skilled communicator A practitioner who has the highest expectations of themselves and others Energy and drive Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Experience of working with young people Excellent communication skills A good level of education Ability to build good relationships with students and parents High level of confidentiality Availability: 34.17 hours over 5 days per week, term time only (39 weeks) (8:30 am to 4:00 pm with a 40‑minute unpaid lunch break). What the successful candidate will do Care deeply and have high ambitions for every one of our students Be flexible and adaptable Ideally have some experience of working with young people in a school or other setting Be organised, efficient and competent with Microsoft Office packages and quick to learn new software (e.g. Arbor, our MIS system) This post holder will join a team of five Heads of Year along with our wider Student Support Team which includes the Welfare Team and Learning Support team. We have an excellent team of associate staff and teachers across the school and our students are a delight to work with. As part of a multi‑academy trust there are many opportunities for collaboration and sharing of good practice across the member schools, with regular WMAT meetings for the schools’ attendance teams. We are looking for a candidate with the skills and experience to make a real difference. We are looking for someone who will be a team player in our high‑achieving school where we challenge all students and staff to be the best they can be. We are an oversubscribed and friendly school with big ambitions and our staff and students are “proud to belong … proud to achieve”. Our school has undergone significant refurbishment over the last three years, including a state‑of‑the‑art extension to our Drama studio and a new English block and library. Location We are an 11‑16 Academy of 900 students, situated in a fantastic location on the outskirts of Haslemere. Haslemere lies in Surrey, on the border with Hampshire and West Sussex and we have excellent road and rail links to neighbouring counties. We are just 3 minutes’ drive off the main A3 and also have a train station in Haslemere on the mainline from Portsmouth to London Waterloo.
